  • Additional perspective: Wacker Neuson set to contribute equipment manufacturing insights to the successful digitalization and optimization of construction site processes

To simplify everyday construction site workflows for customers and suppliers, PORR Equipment Services GmbH and Umdasch Group Ventures GmbH joined forces to create a digital platform for core processes in construction logistics under the umbrella of the joint venture SEQUELLO, Austria. Wacker Neuson SE is now also participating in this joint venture as an equal third partner, bringing insights and expertise from the manufacture, sale and rental of light and compact equipment to the alliance. Closing of the transaction is subject to antitrust approval, which is expected in the coming months.

“At Wacker Neuson, we are always searching for solutions to make everyday life easier for our customers and boost efficiency,” explains Alexander Greschner, CSO of Wacker Neuson SE. “And this is exactly what the SEQUELLO construction logistics platform does. Digitalizing order, delivery and billing processes offers our customers real added value and we see major potential to develop SEQUELLO into an industry-wide solution. That is why we are contributing our industry insights and expertise as well as human resources to this joint venture with PORR and Umdasch Group Ventures.”

Optimized process management and smart logistics increase construction workflow productivity. The SEQUELLO construction logistics platform digitalizes and simplifies processes along the entire value chain that were previously paper-based. Specifically, construction companies can use it to place electronic orders with their suppliers, for instance for concrete or backfill materials such as gravel and ballast, check order status online and enter all data every step of the way up to invoice verification. There are also plans to integrate additional modules in the platform, such as construction equipment and machinery rentals. This will enable customers and suppliers to collaborate even more productively, digitalizing processes, minimizing sources of error and saving time.

The platform core is provided by SAP. SEQUELLO will be available as a web app on the one hand, and can also be directly integrated in ERP systems on the other. This digital platform will be showcased at the digitalBAU trade fair in Cologne, Germany, at the start of June 2022. Roll-out is then planned over the course of the year.
